My Daily Mobster

Jack Kasprzak is one of my best friends ever. He runs a site that showcases Daily Mosters. Jack invited me to be a guest mobster maker, and here he is, Fish-eye Willie:

Shooting with my 10-20mm

This shot is an exercise in shooting into the sun while it gets darker by the minute. I was constantly changing the ISO, aperture and shutter speed just to see what would happen.

Basic lesson, low ISO, high shutter speed and an aperture around 5….I think.

Lonely Photographer

My friend taking advantage of the sunset and the mountainous view.

Sunset Silhouette

Lately I’ve been enamored by shooting into the sun.

Good Night Pacific Ocean

This hike was a lot of fun and worth the view.

Backyard Tree

I wanted to keep working on shooting into the sun to get a real dramatic effect on a normal looking tree. The key is to have low ISO, large f-stop number and a fast shutter.

Working on The Sky

There was a lunar eclipse this weekend. I tried to get some good photos of the moon, but I realized that shooting the sky it tricky. Having the camera do some of the decision making is definitely not a good idea.

For this shot I have an ISO of 200 because of so much light coming from the sun. Aperture is set to f/29 because I wanted as much in focus as possible. Shutter was set to 1/4000 of a second because I didn’t want any details of the house to make it into the picture. After a little customizing, this is what came out.

A glass of wine and a Nikon D90

I was playing with my new remote Flash triggers… and a bottle of Trader Joe’s wine.

Restoring My Uncle

My uncle passed away and the only photo we had for any kind of memorial was wrinkled and pretty beat up. Here is the before and after.

Photoshop has very powerful cloning and healing tools. With this photo I had to reconstruct the right side of his face.

After a few hours I came up with a serviceable photo. I sure am going to miss him, but at least we have a decent photo to use for reflection.

In Your Arms – Kina Grannis

My buddy Greg directed this music video.  You have got to be brilliant to play with that many jelly beans for well over a year.  And by ‘brilliant’, I mean ‘nuts’.
